Gee, I love freebie days off! I got to work and our office smelled like a dead sewer and got worse as the minutes went on. So, by 9AM (I had been there 1/2 hour) my boss told us to take off. He didn't want us getting sick. Soo.. I split.. ran some errands that have been put off due to working and even got my dog's blood test done for her dental cleaning. And I was home by NOON!

I have all afternoon! What to do, what to do... :-) #

Announcement!! That project that I've had in the plans is finally up and running, thanks so much to Sara Who kindly coded and then troubleshot my Moveable Type. She really went above and beyond what I initially asked her to do and I really appreciate that!

So anyway.. go check my new blog Swing Time and let me know what you think! You will see that it is a very different blog. One that I do not think anyone else has done yet. I plan on doing lots of really interesting things with that journal..especially once a certain date creeps up in the United States.

It reflects my favorite period of time..good things and bad things aside. It's a fascinating time period and I truly want that journal to reflect that from a first person point of view. As if you were reading the journal of the (so far) three people who's lives will be reflected on the journal. #

Watched E's True Hollywood Story of Jaws tonight. Now.. For those who don't know this.. Jaws is my all time favorite movie. It's kind od special to me as it started my journey as a child to learn anything and everything I could about Sharks, Whales and Dolphins. It was an interesting turning point in that 8 year old's life. The summer after I saw Jaws, I went to San Diego for the second time to visit my aunt and uncle.. and of course to go to my new favorite place on earth, Sea World. Shamu fascinated every bone in my little body! I still have the stuffed Shamu that I got on that trip.. and proceeded to sleep with for the next several years. In fact, he's sitting on top of my computer desk right next to another special stuffed animal, who's story is a whole other entry.. :-)

Anyway.. what I started to say before I went on the flashback tangent.. was that I learned a few bits of trivia that I did not know. In 1975, Jaws was released into 400 Theatres. That was considered Wide Release! 400 Theatres! Wow! Also, Jaws was the first ever movie to make over $100 Million at the Box Office. 2 bits of trivia that may or may not be useless to you at some point. Just hold on to them for the next Trivial Pursuit game. :-) #

Ok, this is strange.. I just added a bunch of new reads to my side bar.. and they publish fine. But when I go to look at the source code.. these new reads *do not* show up in my template. However, they publish like they are there, but invisible. Ok, thinking maybe Blogger's template editor has a txt limit, I copy/pasted the template to notepad.. and guess what. They aren't there either.. wh'as up with that?? #

Just about have my new blogs set up... just need to find someone who can hand code my templates.. hint hint. :-) I'm clueless when it comes to hand coding html. Especially around tags that I don't really unerstand. LOL (Pretty much excludes me form doing any hacks on my MT! LOL) As long as it works for what I need for it to work for. #

Of Blood tests and bruising... had to get a blood test yesterday afternoon. Nothing major, just testing something. I had it done at one of those labs. I am a mega wus..when it comes to needles and I have to say that this was the most painless blood test I've ever had *but* I've got the bruise from Hell on my arm from it. It's lookin' really ugly today. :-( #

Utah. Omaha. Gold. Juno. Sword. Those are the code names for the Normandy beachheads that the allies stormed on June 6th, 1944. D-Day. The day that turned the tide of the war to the allies. Today is the 58th anniversary of this important day in our History. It's a day to think and reflect on those who died and those who beat the odds and pushed forward and on into Normandy. History Channel's website as always has some great information about this important day in WW2 History. #

Making sure this looks OK... started to transfer everything to MT, then ran into a problem. getting oddball errors in MT and am really too tired to deal with it tonight. For those of my readers who use MT... can I use an external program.. such as Frontpage (I know, I know... but it's what I use *g*) to create my template.. and if I do that.. with the linking to external file selected.. will it automatically combine the MT template in with the FP html file when I save it at MT? I think what I am trying to say is... when I save the template in MT, will it pull any new information off the linked file (from frontpage) and include it properly in it's own template? Does this make sense? (I hope so. I am tired and rambling *g*) If it doesn't.. comment and I'll try to explain it a little better. :-) #

Only in America...

On my way to work this morning, I saw someone walking along the shoulder of the highway.. in a pretty strong Thunderstorm..using an American flag as a raincoat... Not one of the more appropriate uses for the Grand Old Flag.. but it is made out of the right material... *g*

Also.. an update on my washer.. the maintenace men are going to fix it today. Last night he mainly concentrated on cleaning up the water mess. 5 gallons of water was sucked up by the wet/vac. That's not counting the at least 2 other gallons that Hubby and I soaked up with the towels! #

Ah, the joys of a washing machine flooding. We have water everywhere.. including in the downstairs apartment. The poor ladies downstairs are being dripped on. Not sure what happened.. but a pipe that leads into the washer must have come undone or something. Oyyy.... And how was your day? :-) #

Yay, I'm back!! Sorry for the technical difficulties. Apparently my web host changed some server settings on me and I had to figure out what they were. :-) Now to get to some of the changes that need to be made. namely I need to get Sara's name and link changed in my reads. :-) Plus I have a few reads to add. :-) And really soon, I'll be moving to Moveable Type. :-) Gotta find a nicey nice new layout for the pool!

Plus, I have a really swell new blog project that I will open as soon as I get switched to MT. It's something, that I don't think any other blogger has thought of. At least none that I have found. :-) Will announce the opening of that as soon as I get everything up and running. Oh and the URL for this blog (as well as the new one) will change as well. Announcement forthcoming!! I'm excited! #

Today in NYC they held a ceremony that officially closed the recovery effort at Ground Zero, which is what the former WTC site is now known as. The ceremony was simply, solemn and as the commentator just said on MSNBC, consecrated the ground. It began simply with an empty stretcher, draped with an American flag was paraded out to represent the ones who were never recovered, then it was placed into an ambulance and lead the procession. That was followed by a flatbed truck carried the black and flag draped final steal girder that stood until yesterday when it was removed and will be placed into storage for a future memorial. That was followed by a parade of firefirghters, police officers, rescue workers, steel workers, family members and various others who worked in the recovery effort. There were no speeches, no platitudes, only Taps. I think this was the most appropriate. One door closes and another opens. I do hope a memorial of some kind is put there, rather than just another office building. #

A small post to let everyone know that I am back. :-) As usual, I had a great but exhausting time, as one always does at cons. :-) What I meant by music videos is that I take various clips of my favorite TV shows and set them to a song, in a way they both make sense. There was a good response to my vids this year and I was told that they hoped I participate next year. (Which I plan on!)

I hope to try to get other folks who are Remember WENN fans to go to this con next year, so at least that fandom has a good showing. :-)

So, I'm back, had a great time... now.. must go back to work. Ugh... :-) Why do fun weekends always go by fast? #

Well, pretty soon, I am off for teh con until Tuesday night. I won't post until then, because I won't see a computer until then. :-) But I will be sure to post a recap of the fun I had.

I had to be 'bad parent' today and take Lucy to be boarded. I always worry when we have to leave her. It's not logical worry, just 'mommy' worry. She's at a place that i also a vet hospital, so if anything goes wrong, her vet is right there. They have my cell phone number, so I'll be in reach. I feel sorry for her for the weekend. Hubby and I are both off having fun (He in Canada, me in Michigan) and she gets to spend a long weekend in a cage. :-( Hopefully next year, she can come with me since this is a pet friendly con, but only if you can stay in the con hotel, which I wasn't in until too late to be able to take her with me.

Poor thing was shaking like a leaf. She knows those folks ther since thats where she gets groomed, goes to her vet and also is boarded. (This place is truly "Doggie Hell" All that in one place. LOL) And I know she was mad at me when I left.. because she wouldn't even lick me.

Well, I am off... to all my readers in the states... have a safe Memorial Weekend (and please take a moment to remember the reason for the holiday.. hint.. it's not picnics. ) For my international readers... have a great weekend!! #

I found not one but two CDs by my favorite local Jazz/Big Band singer. His name is Dwight Lenox and if the music business knows what's good for it... you will be hearing from this fellow for a good long time. He's one of the best male singers I've ever heard.

I have been fortunate enough to see him on a regular basis as one of the regular singers for my favorite local Big Band, which performs on Thursday Night's at the 94th Aerosquadron in Columbus. #

I may have found a roomie at the con hotel for this weekend. Yippeee... this year I might actually be with the action! #

Well, it's nearly time for my annual Memorial weekend trek to Media*West con. I'm really looking forward to haveing a good long weekend offf work and with friends. I'm SO ready for a con! :-)

This year I will have music videos. This is the first time I have entered any vids in the con's contest. These are older vids, but have never been seen at M*W, so I was given permission to enter them. Wish me luck!! :-) #

Saw Spiderman tonight. It was a much better movie than I thought it would be. They were able to add a good human element to the movie as well as an interesting jack the Ripper-esque sense to Green Goblin. Toby Maguire was cast perfectly as Peter Parker/Spiderman. I'd certainly recomment it. :-) #

Update.. according to the National Weather Service it was definately an F-1 Tornado that hit Centralia. I did not know the two victims, but the names were familiar. According to the NWS, the winds were up to 112 MPH and my mother said last night that she heard there were gusts up to 120MPH.. whew! #

Oh Wow.... SPOILER WARNING

Tonight was Dr Green's last episode of ER... He died from a Brain Tumor. It was a wonderful episode, very sad. The last 10 minutes I was a sobbing crying mess! I have not cried this hard for a Fictional character since they blew up Walnut Grove on the last episode of Little House On The Prairie. :-( :-( :-( #

      ( 5/9/2002 ) Biz S
Update from my mother... she said it looks like it was a tornado because she can see a path. She just moved to a smaller town about 15 mins south of Centralia. She lost her electricity at around 2Am.. and still had none this morning. I called her cell ophone, so she was driving to the old house and telling me that the side of town that was hit, is not accessible. She's a little worried because the woman who grooms Mini is in the neighborhood that was hit or very near to it. We still haven't heard names. #

      ( 5/9/2002 ) Biz S
Ok, my home town is the lead story on Headline News. There was apparently a Tornado that went through a moble home park there last night. Two people died. I have no idea of names, but given that Centralia is a small town, I probably knew them. Gonna have to call my dad and ask if he knows. My family runs a funeral home in Centralia and all my family is there. Hope everyone who was hurt (approx 15) will be OK. #

Yet another priest in the Boston Diocese has been arrested... What IS this??? It's unreal... the sheer numbers of Priests and victims. Can anyone trust a Catholic Priest anymore? As well... can anyone really believe in the Catholic religion anymore considering it's coming down to looking like the high Church Heirarchy is rather hypocritical. Why is this happening? #

Today is the 57th anniversary of V-E day... Let's take a moment to remember the men who died and the men and women who helped to win the European half of World War II for the Allies. #

Ok, I really like what they are doing with Days... and with Brady and the loft. But I really really hate the "Miss Cleo" look-alike Clarice, or whatever. She's a terrible actress..terrible. She's ruining the foreshadowing.. why is she even there?? #
